I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2005. I am registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and UMHAN (University Mental Health Advisers Network). Having provided supervision throughout my career, in 2021 I chose to further enhance my knowledge and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision.
Since qualifying, I have worked in a variety of frontline NHS mental health settings and within University Student Services.
I currently work as a freelance Specialist Mental Health Mentor with university students, in addition to working as an Associate Occupational Therapist with Wellbeing Therapy Solutions.
Due to the emotional aspects that mental health work involves, I believe that effective supervision is essential for staff. Being able to take a step back to reframe and process our experiences enables us to support others safely and successfully, whilst maintaining our own wellbeing.
The global pandemic has made access to regular, quality supervision even more pertinent; aside from the mental health challenges this created for many, the increase in remote and hybrid working may lead staff to feel less connected to colleagues and therefore more isolated.
I offer a warm, supportive, non-judgemental approach. Supervision I provide will be person-centred, solution focussed and restorative.
On a personal note, as an unpaid carer I fully recognise the need for balance and the importance of regular participation in meaningful activity.

Having attended art college when I was younger, I participate in creative activity whenever possible & value the ways this supports my own emotional regulation and wellbeing.
I am also fascinated by the multiple ways having a connection to nature benefits our physical and mental health, and try to spend time outdoors whenever possible. To enhance my understanding, I am currently completing a "Nature Connectedness" course through the University of Derby.
